Curated Not Crowded

Sell on a Curated Marketplace - Not a Crowded One

The British Craft House is a carefully curated UK marketplace for independent makers who value quality, trust, and long-term growth and not a race to the bottom on price.

We don’t believe more sellers automatically means more success – for makers or buyers

TBCH is intentionally curated to:

Maintain premium handmade standards

Attract buyers who value craftmanship, not constant discounting

This isn’t about volume. It’s about value.

Learn more about selling on a curated marketplace

Choosing the right platform is about more than fees or features. We believe in transparency, informed decisions, and long-term growth for independent makers.

If you’d like to understand why curated marketplaces outperform crowded platforms, and why cost isn’t the same as value, these articles will help:

Who can sell on The British Craft House?

Independent artisans creating their own work in Great Britain

No Vintage – just original handcrafted items

No Reselling or co-operative shops

Thoughtful up-cycling considered by application

No craft supplies – curated kits welcomed

Applications are reviewed personally.

“It’s the only online platform I now use now – the experience has been entirely positive.”
— Sarah, Chris’s Fork Emporium

We review applications to keep standards high and ensure a thoughtful, curated experience for both sellers and customers.

The British Craft House is not an open marketplace. By carefully reviewing each application, we’re able to showcase original British handmade work, support our sellers properly, and avoid the overcrowding common on larger platforms.

This approach helps every accepted shop stand out and be part of a marketplace built on quality, not quantity.

We ask for a photo so we can better understand your work and how it’s presented.

Photography plays an important role in a curated online marketplace, and reviewing a sample image helps us ensure your products will sit well alongside our existing sellers.

This isn’t about perfection, clear, honest photos are all we’re looking for, and we’re always happy to offer guidance once you’re set up.

The British Craft House is a carefully curated marketplace dedicated to original British handmade work.

Unlike open platforms, we don’t aim to be the biggest. Every shop is reviewed, and we focus on supporting a considered number of sellers so they’re not lost in a crowded space.

This allows us to offer a more personal level of support, maintain consistent standards across the site, and create a trusted shopping experience for customers, where quality, not quantity, comes first.

We take a 7.2% platform commission (including VAT) on each sale.

Payments are processed securely by Stripe. Stripe’s standard fees are:

  • 1.5% + 20p per transaction for UK-issued cards

  • 2.5% + 20p per transaction for EU-issued cards

If a customer checks out from multiple shops in one order, Stripe’s fees are automatically split between the individual sellers involved.

We run paid advertising across Google, Google Shopping, Facebook, Instagram and Pinterest.

Shops on all packages are included in our off-site advertising activity, with placements selected carefully to reflect seasonality, product suitability and overall curation.

Not every application is accepted, as we carefully curate the marketplace.

If your application isn’t successful, it doesn’t reflect the quality of your work, it may simply not be the right fit at this time.

Where possible, we’ll offer guidance, and you’re always welcome to reapply in the future.

Please complete the application below.

We carefully review every submission to ensure a good fit for our curated marketplace.

When telling us about your work, it helps to include how your products are made and what attracted you to TBCH.

For the photo upload, clear images are all we’re looking for – perfection isn’t required.
